Academic Advising
Jules Smith is the new Advisor and Counsellor for the Sunshine Coast campus.
We encourage you to set up an appointment with our Academic Advisor. You can book an appointment through our receptionist at the front desk, in person, or by calling 604-885-9310. Appointments are typically 1 hour long.
Hours – Our Academic Advisor is available at the Sunshine Coast Campus one and one half days a week. Her hours are normally Tuesday and Thursday starting at 9:30 a.m.

Advising Services include:
-providing prospective and current students with educational planning consistent with career goals
-assisting prospective and current students in making course selections consistent with career goals
-assisting students in planning their transfer to other institutions
-providing admission and course planning workshops to prospective students
-providing the general public with information on Capilano University programs
-visiting local high schools to provide information on Capliano University programs and assisting students in their transition from high school to post-secondary education
Counselling Services
Confidential, free counselling services are available to our students at the Sunshine Coast Campus. Consultation is also provided to faculty and staff regarding dealing with student issues. Counselling services are provided by highly trained and caring counsellors, knowledgeable about student concerns and ways to be of help.
We encourage you to set up an appointment with our counsellor. She is available starting January 14h, 2011 from 9:30 - 3:00 pm. You can book an appointment through our receptionist at the front desk, in person, or by calling 604-885-9310. Appointments are typically an hour long.
If you have an emergency and the Sunshine Coast Counsellor is unavailable, you may call the Counselling office at our North Vancouver campus @604-984-1744. Local crisis services are also listed below.

Counselling Services include:
· Career Counselling to assist students and prospective students in deciding on a career. Sometimes students have trouble deciding on a career, feel unsure, confused or lack motivation. Counselling and testing can help students by exploring their interests, aptitudes, abilities, values and career goals.
· Short-term Personal Counselling to help students that are experiencing personal problems which are affecting their ability to succeed in university. Counsellors can help students clarify issues, overcome obstacles and find effective ways of dealing with their problems. Counsellors can also refer students to community agencies for further assistance. Examples of some common concerns that students seek help for are depression, anxiety, stress, family problems, self-esteem, and relationship issues.
· Academic Counselling offered to help students with issues related to their academic performance. Students often require assistance for concerns such as test anxiety, procrastination, or time management.
· Workshops and Outreach Programs offered on a variety of topics such as career exploration, stress management, student success, goal setting, time management, and assertiveness training to name a few.
