Conflict Resolution and Harassment

If you are a student or a member of faculty, staff, or administration and have been:

  • involved in or affected by a conflict or dispute on campus 
  • having difficluties with a colleague, professor, student, co-worker, manager, administrator... or any other member of the University community
  • the target of harassment or accused of harassing someone 

The Conflict Resolution Advisor is ready to help.

The advisor assists campus members to confidentially, informally, and effectively resolve difficult interpersonal situations ranging from interpersonal conflicts to sexual/discriminatory harassment and bullying. This support can include: discussing effective responses/stragegies; coaching communication skills and aproaches coaching; assisting with written communication; mediating specific disputes/conflicts; facilitating group meetings.

The advisor also offers presentations and workshops at all campuses on many topics, including harassment and discrimination, managing conflicts positively, difficult conversations, communication skills, anger management, team buidling, effective meetings, and human rights. The advisor is available to all Capilano University researchers with questions about harassment, conflict resolution, and related topics.

Keiron Simons, BA, LLB, Conflict Resolution Advisor

As well as his work at Capilano University, Keiron is a practicing conflict resolution facilitator and a trainer.  His conflict resolution practice focuses on family and workplace conflict. As a trainer, Keiron develops and facilitates workshops, courses, and training programs in areas ranging from conflict resolution and mediation to team building and leadership for educational, private and public sector, and community-based organizations. In addition to his fifteen years experience as a mediator and trainer, Keiron brings a background as a lawyer, harassment advisor, crisis counsellor, and advocate to Capilano.
