Books not at Capilano University Main Library
Use any of the following options:
- Request books directly from other BC college, university and public libraries using the BC Libraries Combined Catalogue (OUTLOOK Online).
- Select the catalogue of one or more library or libraries you want to search (do NOT select ELN Media Cat or ELN Serials Cat to find books).
- Search the Outlook Online catalogue for college and public library holdings or search the university library catalogues individually (note that unlike Outlook, a search of a university catalogue provides you with a live lookup, so you can see whether or not your book is currently available for loan).
- After you've found your book, click on the "Request This Item" button in the upper right of the screen.
- Fill in the information and submit your request.
- Fill out and submit the online Interlibrary Loan Request Form if you can't find what you're looking for above.
- Be sure that you provide the exact description of the book including author, title, publisher and date.
- Borrow books directly from many BC college, university and public libraries:
- The BC OneCard allows you to borrow books from any BC public library.
- Capilano has reciprocal borrower agreements that enable you to borrow print materials from BC college and university libraries included in a BC Post-Secondary Reciprocal Borrowing Initiative. To find which Institutions are included in this agreement, ask at the library's Circulation Desk or call 604.984.4944 Option #2. Generally, proof of current student status and address are required. Borrowing restrictions are set by each library.
- Note that we also have agreements that allow you to borrow books directly from UBC Library and SFU Library (note that this was a pilot project that has been extended beyond Feb 28, 2009). Since Capilano only recently became a university, we are still governed by the BC Post-Secondary Reciprocal Borrowing agreement, which is somewhat more restrictive than the COPPUL reciprocal agreement among universities that you may find referenced.
