Intercampus Loans

To Borrow:

Please consider the following before placing your interlibrary loan request:

  • Intercampus requests for items held at the Main campus of the Capilano University Library can be made by students registered at the Sunshine Coast and Squamish campuses only.
  • You must have a student ID number or faculty Banner ID to access the following options (a library barcode is no longer required).
  • Please remember that it takes up to 2 weeks to receive items.

Books at Capilano University Main Library

  1. Use the Capilano University Library Catalogue to request books be sent to you from the main campus. All items can be requested except music CDs, reference books and items on reserve.
    • Find the book in the Library Catalogue.
    • Click on the request button.
    • Fill in your ID information as prompted.

Books not at Capilano University Main Library

Use any of the following options:

  1. Request books directly from other BC college and public libraries using the BC Libraries Combined Catalogue (OUTLOOK Online).
    • Find the title that you want in the database.
    • Scroll down to the end of the record to see the list of libraries that have the title.
    • Select a specific library (always choose an academic library if available).
    • Click on the green "Request This Item" button in the upper right of the screen.
    • Fill in the information and submit your request.
  2. Fill out and submit the online Interlibrary Loan Request Form.
    • Be sure that you provide the exact description of the book including author, title, publisher and date.

Periodicals held by Capilano University

Use any of the following options:

  1. The quickest way to obtain articles from magazines and journals is to use the library's full-text databases. The full-text databases are marked with an * in the list of Databases & Articles.
    • Search for your topic in the appropriate database.
    • The list of results indicates whether the article is available in full-text.
    • Remember that not all articles are available in full-text.
    • You can read the article online, print or email the article.
  2. If you find a reference to an article in one of the databases listed in Databases & Articles, you can request the article from the Main campus of the Capilano University Library (as long as the full-text is not available online).
    • Find the article in the database.
    • Click on "Where can I get this article?"
    • Make sure that Capilano University Library has the issue that you need.
    • Click on "REQ" next to Capilano.
    • Fill in the information as requested.
    • Note - if Capilano is not listed, see below.

Periodical articles not held by Capilano University

Use any of the following options:

    • Search for your topic in the appropriate database.
    • The list of results indicates whether the article is available in full-text.
    • Remember that not all articles are available in full-text.
    • You can read the article online, print or email the article.
  2. If you find a reference to an article in one of that databases listed in Databases & Articles, you can request the article directly from the BC library listed as owning the periodical.
    • Search for your topic in the appropriate database.
    • Click on "Where can I get this article?"
    • Click on "REQ" next to a library that has the periodical that you want.
    • Be sure to verify that they have the exact issue that you need.
    • Fill in the information as requested.
  3. Fill out and submit the online Interlibrary Loan Request Form.
    • Be sure that you provide the exact description of the article including author, title of the article, name of the periodical, volume and issue, date and page numbers.
