Food & Drink Policy

Policy

Drinks with secure lids or in spill-proof containers are allowed in the Library. Prepackaged, vending machine-style snack foods are allowed in the Library. Hot, messy foods or foods that carry a strong odour are not permitted anywhere in the Library.

Rationale

Capilano University Library has established its Food & Drink Policy to aid in the preservation and maintenance of library materials and electronic equipment, to maintain pest-free buildings and damage-free furnishings, to reduce litter, and to ensure a clean environment for studying and working.

Cooperation

Library personnel will ask users to dispose of any prohibited foods in the garbage bins provided. Please dispose of empty beverage containers in the proper receptacles: cans and bottles in the proper recycling bins, and coffee cups in the garbage. Non-cooperation could result in patrons being asked to leave the Library, and may involve suspension of Library privileges and/or reporting of behaviour as a violation of the "Capilano University Student Behaviour Policy".
