Library Classes
Library research classes, available in the first 2 months of term, are required for all English and Psychology 100 courses and are scheduled by instructors as part of their regular class time. In addition, a variety of academic and career programs (Tourism Studies; Legal Assistance; APMCP; ECCE; ESL; ABT) request one Library Skills class per term.
These sessions provide students with hands-on experience in accessing the on-line catalogue, finding periodical articles in databases and indexes, using the Library collection and doing effective Internet research. After the presentation, an English or Psychology library assignment is distributed to students for completion. Once marked, assignments are returned to instructors.
If you are not enrolled in either English 100 or Psychology 100, ask your instructors whether they have scheduled a library class for a specific course. If not, you may sit in on any library class that is being held. Just ask for the schedule at the Reference Desk in the Library or call (604) 984-1769.
For Instructors wanting to book a library class for your students, please see Library Instruction Request Form.
