Apply For Capilano Scholarships, Bursaries & Awards

Spring 2012 - Some awards remain open to apply! Applications currently open have an active link to (PDF) below.  Deadlines noted on each application.   

Please also check below for any applications that are paper-based.  Print and submit by the deadline noted.

  1. Learn about awards you may be applying for:  Check out  Financial Aid & Awards - A Student Guide (PDF)   
  2. Have your personal information ready including Social Insurance Number (SIN) and budget information
  3. Apply on-line at www.capilanou.ca and select "myCap" (Student Information Web Service).  Select Student Services>Financial Aid & Awards (not for international students, part-time students or ABE/ESL.  First year/first-term students to Capilano use the First Semester Bursary on-line application)
  4. In addition to applying on-line, some award competitions are application by paper.  Check out the opportunities below by clicking on each link. Complete PDF applications for each award you meet the minimum eligibility criteria
  5. If you are a part-time student please see "Part-time Award Opportunities" below
  6. If you are an international student please see "Award Opportunities for International Students" below

  8. Ensure you complete all sections of each application and follow submission instructions

General Information on Capilano's Scholarships, Bursaries and Awards

Capilano General Scholarships: Minimum Eligibility Criteria (unless otherwise noted by award donor)

  • Minimum cumulative GPA of 3.50
  • Completion of at least 12 credits at the 100 level or higher at Capilano University
  • Current enrolment in at least 12 credits at the 100 level or higher at Capilano University
  • Canadian citizen or permanent resident unless noted that International students are eligible to apply

* 6 credits for students with permanent disabilities who have been approved by Disability Services at Capilano (supporting documentation will be required)

Capilano General Bursaries & Awards: Minimum Eligibility Criteria (unless otherwise noted by award donor)

  • Demonstration of financial need as determined by the Financial Aid and Awards Office where applicable
  • A minimum cumulative GPA of 2.50
  • Completion of at least 9 credits* at the 100 level or higher at Capilano
  • Current enrolment in at least 9 credits* at the 100 level or higher at Capilano University
  • Canadian citizen or permanent resident for all that require the financial need component.  If an award is open to International students it will be noted.

* 6 credits for students with permanent disabilities who have been approved by Disability Services at Capilano (supporting documentation will be required)

 

Capilano First Semester Bursary: Minimum Eligibility Criteria (unless otherwise noted by award donor)

  • Demonstration of financial need as determined by the Financial Aid and Awards Office
  • Current enrolment in at least 9 credits* at the 100 level or higher at Capilano
  • Enrolment in your first term at Capilano in which you are applying for the First Semester Bursary  (I.e. new student to Capilano)
  • Canadian citizen or permanent resident

* 6 credits for students with permanent disabilities who have been approved by Disability Services at Capilano (supporting documentation will be required)

 

Other Eligibility Criteria

(may be required)
  • Restricted to students enrolled in a specific program of study
  • Restricted to students enrolled in a specific year of a program
  • Restricted to students active in the University or community
  • Restricted to students residing in a specific city/area
  • Restricted to students with disabilities or training to work with persons with disabilities
  • Restricted to students with a First Nations heritage  

Recipients of Capilano scholarships, bursaries and awards will be notified by mail following decisions and may be several weeks following the application deadline. To maintain student confidentiality, Financial Aid and Awards does not confirm award notifications by phone. Please ensure your mailing address is correct with the Registrar's Office
