IT Service Desk

Capilano University relies on Information Technology for its teaching, learning, research and administration. The IT Services team provides IT-related services to students, faculty and staff.

The quality of our IT services to staff and students is fundamental to the successful operation of the University and its capacity to achieve its strategic objectives.

This web page lists the IT services that are available and how to access them. If you need more information or help please contact the IT Service Desk.

Currently, IT Services at Capilano is undertaking major Transformation projects intended to ensure we create an IT Service Organisation that provides a cost effective University wide consistent, responsive, secure and flexible IT service to all students, faculty and staff.
We will do this by increasing the functionality, capacity and availability of services to provide the best possible user experience.

IT Services at Capilano University is pleased to announce that faculty access to G: Drive from Instructor Stations has been specially created to bridge between the old Novell and new Microsoft Windows 7 networks. This is available throughout the North Vancouver campus in all Computer Labs and Classrooms. See more details on Frontlines... 


Win7 and Office 2010 available on "ts-win7"

For those employees on campus who wish to use (or just try out), either Windows 7 or Office 2010, a Terminal Server has been set up just for this.  Note that it is not accessible from off-campus. See more details... 


Frontlines Is Accessible Off-Campus

September, 2011

The employee intranet is now available off-campus. Access the main web site from a computer off campus and you will see a set of two links under the title "Employee Intranet" on the left hand side menu: On Campus Access and Off Campus Access.

The On Campus link will take you straight to Frontlines when you are logged in on campus. The Off Campus link will be accessible from off campus and will take you to a login screen where you enter the usual username and password that you enter to access your computer at work. Once you have authenticated properly, you will be forwarded straight to Frontlines.


Notification of Planned Outages

IT Services uses a 'Notify List' to inform the campus community of unusual and/or important events relating to our computing and networking infrastructure. If you would like to be added to this list, send an email to support.

If you are on this list, please pass on any information you receive to others in your department and/or post it in your area.


Microsoft Campus Agreement

As part of our "Home Use Program" with Microsoft, Capilano faculty and staff have work-at-home rights to use Microsoft Office 2010. Further documentation can be found under Policies and Procedures.
