EXCEL Testing Criteria
Criteria Guidelines for Microsoft EXCEL 2007
The following is a criteria guideline to inform candidates of the type of tasks that may be asked in each level of EXCEL testing (all tasks may not be listed). Candidates are advised to review all functions of the software in order to perform tasks efficiently within the allotted time limit. Your personal reference material is allowed for all levels.Working Level of Knowledge: (30 minutes)
- Open, edit, save, print document
- Create, insert and name worksheets
- Apply formatting of text, numbers and style
- Adjust cell width, height or text alignment
- Insert or delete cells
- Insert and format columns and rows
- Select cells
- Cut and paste
- Apply formulas
- Apply borders
- Change page layout
Considerable Level of Knowledge: (45 minutes, includes all functions listed in the Working level plus the following:)
- Apply functions
- Set print titles
- Use AutoFilter
- Create and change charts
- Select non-contiguous cells
- Paste links
- Name and protect cells
- Apply absolute cell references
- Use name ranges in formulas
- Apply conditional formatting
- Sort
- Header and footer
- Freeze panes
Thorough Level of Knowledge: (1 hour, includes all functions listed in the Working and Considerable levels plus the following:)
- Play a macro
- Use "if" statements
- Advanced formulas
- Consolidate cells
- Apply pivot tables
All test scores are valid and will be kept on file for two years.
