ACCESS Testing Criteria
Criteria Guidelines for Microsoft ACCESS 2007
The following is a guideline to inform candidates of the type of tasks that may be asked in each level of ACCESS testing. (all tasks may not be listed) It is strongly recommended that candidates prepare themselves by reviewing all the functions available in the software so that they can perform tasks efficiently within the time limit. Your personal reference material is allowed for all levels.
Working Level of Knowledge: (30 minutes)
- Create, save, print document
- Format datasheet
- Switch to datasheet view
- Enter and edit records
- Navigate through records
- Apply filters
- Create and modify forms
- Create a new report
- Create a new table
- Create and run queries
- Create and print a report
- Print records, tables, queries and reports including adjusting page set up and print area
Considerable Level of Knowledge: (45 minutes, includes all functions listed in the Working level plus the following)
- Modify data types
- Modify field properties
- Make fields mandatory
- Modify a query
- Apply formatting
- Apply conditional formatting
- Edit or add controls
Thorough Level of Knowledge:(60 minutes, includes all functions listed in the Working and Considerable levels plus the following:)
- Edit or add controls
- Create subforms
- Add hyperlinks to a report
- Print database relationships
- Import data to a new table
- Modify default field properties
- Modify query criteria
Hands-On Extensive Access Test: (90 minutes, this test covers only the use of complex queries. It covers the following concepts:)
- Importing tables from another database
- Importing tables from a spreadsheet
- Copying tables
- Outer joins
- Simple expressions
- Totals queries
- Crosstab queries
- Update queries
- Delete queries
- Use of Min, Max, Sum, Count, and Where
All test scores are valid and will be kept on file for two years.
