Textile Arts Diploma
The Textile Arts Program is a full-time, two-year diploma program which is part of the Fine and Applied Arts Division
at Capilano University. Students learn about textile arts by exploring many different processes and by studying historical and contemporary works. Gallery and studio visits, as well as guest lectures by visiting artists and other professionals working in textiles or related areas augment regular teaching sessions. These presentations show distinct approaches to an artist's work and also provide practical information on how careers are built. Students also have an opportunity to do a practicum with different professional or businesses. The core studio courses in Weaving and Surface Design are complemented by courses in Drawing, Design, 3D Mixed Media, Visual Literacy, Textile History, Communications, English, Precision Dyeing, and Professional and Business Skills in Arts & Crafts.
