China Study Tour

 

We are reopening the application for the China Study Tour as we have come across some new scholarships for students in financial need. There is now a total of $9,000.00 available in scholarships available to students in all disciplines who have completed at least one year of studies at Capilano prior to our departure.

Five $1,000.00 scholarships are available to students based on financial need and a total of $4,000.00 is available based on academic merit.

The deadline for application has been extended to Friday, March 9, 2012.

The China Study Tour which blends academic course work with cultural tours of China include:

· A 3 credit course delivered at Tianjin Polytechnic University and North China Institute of Science and Technology

· Industry visits to the 2nd largest port in the world

· Cultural excursions to Ancient Culture Street, Baozi Dinner, Great Wall, Forbidden City, Tiananmen square, 798 Art District and more!

 

STANDARD ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS

  • must be nineteen (19) or older before departure. Students under nineteen require permission of their parent/ guardian.
  • be in good academic standing with a minimum 2.67 GPA
  • completion of 24 post secondary credits

Qualified students from institutions other than Capilano University are eligible to participate, but must gain admission to Capilano University as Visiting Students.  After acceptance into the China Study Tour, Visiting students mush submit: Capilano University application form with a $42 application fee ($128 for international students), Letter of Permission from you institution indicating that you are applying to Capilano University as a Visiting Student for the purpose of the course, and Office transcripts from your institution.

 

DATES

· April 30, 2012 – Depart for China

· Week One – Hong Kong and Guang Zhou

· Week Two –  Tianjin

· Week Three - Beijing

· May 21, 2012 – Return home to Canada

 

COSTS AND FEES

The cost to participate in the China Study Tour 2012 for domestic and international students is $3,800.00 CDN. This includes:

  • Round trip airfare
  • Double room accommodation
  • Transportation and transfers in China
  • Tuition and fees for a 300 level 3 credit course from Capilano University
  • Program Operational Fees
  • Local field trips and excursions
  • Meeting venue costs
  • Airport taxes
  • China Study Tour Tshirt
  • China airport transfers
  • On ground transportation
  • Site visits
  • Guided tours and entrance fees to cultural attractions
  • Single entry china visa fee

All costs quoted, in Canadian dollars, are approximate, and may vary subject to exchange rates and travel cost quotations.
