Program Requirements
Phase 1
You must meet Capilano University Admission Requirements and be admitted to the University prior to being admitted to the Rehabilitation Assistant Diploma Program.
Remember that only 20 students are selected for the program each year.
Applicants are required to attend an Information Meeting and will be assessed on the basis of an interview with faculty, past academic experience, relevant volunteer or paid work experience, individual career objectives and areas of interest.
Phase 2
To be admitted to the progam, you must meet these requirements:
- Attend a mandatory Program Information Session to find out more about the program and whether it will meet your career goals.
- Successful completion of a Grade 12 High School Diploma including English 12 with at least one science e.g. Biology 12, Chemistry 12 or Physics 12.
- Successful completion of a minimum of 50 hours of volunteer or paid experience working with people who have experienced disease or injury.
- Have three (3) letters of reference, from employers or responsible persons in the community, one of which must certify the successful completion of a minimum of 50 hours of volunteer or paid experience as noted above.
- Be in good physical health and able to lift and transfer 50 lbs. as verified by a confidential letter from your physician. Download medical form.
- Applicants are required to obtain a criminal record check through our RADP department. For information see Criminal Record Check.
- Have a demonstrated ability to communicate effectively in written and spoken English as verified by a written English Placement Test and interview with faculty.
- Be computer literate, able to perform basic computer operations as verified by a letter of confirmation from an employer or teacher.
- Provide an updated resume attached to a handwritten Letter of Interest describing why you would like to enter the field of rehabilitation and why you would be an excellent candidate for admission.
Candidates meeting admission requirements will be required to attend an interview with program faculty.
Phase 3
Once accepted, candidates will then be required to provide documentation verifying:

Successful completion of a current Standard First Aid and CPR level "C" Certificate.

A TB test which demonstrates absence of active tuberculosis.

A current influenza vaccine if scheduled to work in high risk areas i.e. with children, the elderly or people in intensive care.
