Poster Presentations

Developing a Poster Presentation:

These poster presentations are small versions of poster presentations that happen at conferences at which researchers present their research. During the Poster Presentations, we will have the presentations of the research each student has done for their research project.

The Poster:

The poster can be any colour, except white or bright neon colours, & should be on a standard poster size (eg 2 ½ ' by 4'). Write in neat ink or type/print the following on paper & paste it on the poster. The size of the lettering/font should be large enough to read from several feet away.

Include:

  • the title of your research project
  • your hypothesis or research question
  • very briefly, a summary of your method, including number of participants & research method.
  • a summary of your results, in a table or graph form if possible, with the data analysis results clearly indicated (e.g. t =......, p < .01.....)
  • a summary (just a few sentences) from your discussion, a conclusion about what your results mean according to the theory

The Presentation:

The posters will be put up around the classroom, & each student will take about 10-15 minutes to present their research, & to answer any questions about it. Notes may be used, but don't simply read your notes. Distribute copies of your abstract (& a table or graph of your results) to the class to help them follow your presentation.

Evaluation:

The evaluation of the poster presentation will be based on your ability to summarize your study and to communicate your research clearly & concisely. The posters will be evaluated for the clarity of information given, & whether they are easy to read & understand, & look professional.
