B.A. Degree in Applied Behaviour Analysis - Autism
Capilano University offers a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Applied Behaviour Analysis - Autism with a focus on autism spectrum disorders. Applied behaviour analysis is a well-developed discipline with a mature body of scientific knowledge and established standards of evidence-based practice and is regarded by many professionals as the treatment of choice for autism. Interested students may apply to ladder into Year 3 after completing the 2-year Associate of Arts Degree - Concentration in Psychology. Psychology Workshop Series
Each semester, a series of three workshops (the Library Research Skills class, the Study Skills Workshop, & the APA Referencing Style Screencast Series for Psychology Students) are required by your Psyc 100 and Psyc 101 instructor as a 4th Hour activity. The workshop times will be available from your instructor, and posted here for the Fall and Spring semesters.
Library Research Skills Class:
These are drop in classes that are first come-first served - sign up ahead of time at the Library desk to make sure you get a seat. Attend one of these classes and complete the library assignment. The APA workshop is available as a screencast; you can access here or from your course moodle site. You can find the information from the APA workshop on the Quick Guide to APA Style in a handout based on the workshop slides.Psychology Student Club Events
The Psychology Student Club, the Psychocentrics, will be meeting and hosting guest speakers. Keep a look out for their notices of presentations and lectures.
APA Style Guidelines
Here you will find guidelines for writing assignments in APA style, and some sample papers and projects, updated from the new 6th edition of the Publication Manual of the American Psychological Association.
Course Web Pages
Many of the Psychology instructors have their course web pages on the Moodle site. You will need an enrollment key from your instructor to login to these sites. These course web pages contain material related to the courses that will supplement attendance in scheduled classes as "4th hour activities", or for courses which are partially or fully on-line.
