  • Bachelor of Performing Arts: Degree Completion Program (Fourth Year)
    Starting in May 2012, and offered jointly by Capilano University, Douglas College, Langara College and Vancouver Community College, the Bachelor of Performing Arts (BPA) program is unique in Canada. Nowhere else in the country have four academic institutions partnered to deliver a cross-disciplinary performing arts degree that emphasizes collaboration and self-generation—elements that are crucial to young artists’ future success.The program’s focus is real-world training, with the objective of producing grads who can work as professional performing artists, arts managers, administrators or cultural entrepreneurs. Offering students the opportunity to create original multi-disciplinary shows, the program also develops the entrepreneurial skills necessary to make a self-directed performing arts career feasible. The admission process begins in Fall 2011 for the first BPA cohort, which will begin classes at Capilano University in May, 2012.   • North American Business Fundamentals Certificate
    This full-time, nine-month program provides English as a Second Language students with training in accounting, computer applications, interpersonal skills as well as written and spoken English. Graduates can find employment as entry level support personnel in accounts receivable, payable clerks, or general office administration in a service business.   • North American Business Management Post Baccalaureate Diploma
    This one-year program is designed for graduates of recognized undergraduate degree programs in a variety of business-related disciplines from universities around the world. The program is particularly valuable to international students seeking to gain an in-depth knowledge of North American management culture. Subjects include business structure and organization, North American corporate law, finance, cross-border strategic human resource management, Canadian multiculturalism and more. The program concludes with a two-month work practicum, giving students hands-on work experience in a North American environment. No prior work experience is required.   • Bachelor of Communication Studies (BCS)
    The new Bachelor of Communication Studies (BCS) focuses on areas of professional communication such as public and media relations; publishing and editing; cultural criticism; intercultural and interpersonal communication; communication ethics, law and policy; new media studies; and negotiation and mediation. In this project-oriented program students gain practical experience in communication as a strategic activity, and develop the kinds of applied, creative and critical skills required in communication industries and professions.   • Bachelor of Arts in Liberal Studies Degree
    The multidisciplinary nature of this new four-year degree helps you develop more than critical thinking skills; it lets you make meaningful connections between subject areas as varied as the economy and aesthetics, art history and genetic engineering, and the environment and psychology, to name only a few. The ability to look at issues from different perspectives is essential in a world increasingly characterized by change and unprecedented connectivity. That’s why the first two years of this degree give you a broad foundation in the Humanities, Social Sciences and Pure & Applied Sciences. In third-year you apply your new skills by formulating a research question about a topic that truly matters to you. This question will be the basis of your graduating project, which is the culmination of your degree, not to mention an impressive portfolio piece to show prospective employers.   • Digital Visual Effects Program
    Capilano University has launched a new Digital Visual Effects program. This two-year diploma program is now taking applications for September 2011. The program will cover 3D modelling and texturing, compositing, matchmoving and green-screen removal – essentially everything you need to know to virtually blow stuff up, explode planets, control the weather with rain, fog and blizzards and have your favourite actors running for their lives!
