When can I write the MPT?

Students required to take a Math Placement Test for entry into a Math course offered in the Fall 2012 semester should:

Prior to August 15th, 2012
Choose one of the test dates listed below.

August 15, 2012 to September 6, 2012
Contact the Pure & Applied Sciences Division Office at 604.984.4955 or by e-mail sciences@capilanou.ca to book an appointment during the hours of 8am to 4pm. As the test is 2 hours long, the latest sitting starts at 2pm. Bookings are made on a first come, first served basis. Spacing is limited. All tests are written in the Fir building, room FR 471. Twenty four hours' notice is required to cancel any booking. You will be given only one opportunity to rebook your test.

 Before writing a Math Placement Test you must pick up a Math Placement Test Registration Form at the Registrar’s Office (Birch 230) or print a copy of the registration form (pdf) online, fill it out and and either take it to the Cashier’s Office (BR 214) to pay the $10 fee prior to writing the test, or complete the Math Placement Test Credit Card Payment Form (pdf) and either e-mail a scanned copy of this completed credit card form to the Cashier’s Office at finserv@capilanou.ca or fax it to 604.984.1723.

Arrive at your test session at least 15 minutes before the start of the test. Calculators are not permitted in the test. You must bring the completed Math Placement Test Registration Form and Photo ID to the test.

Allow one day for the test to be graded and the results recorded. Your test results, which can be picked up from the Registrar's Office (Birch 230), will include a statement of eligibility for Capilano University mathematics courses, as well as a diagnostic assessment.

Test results from this testing period are valid for Fall 2012, Spring 2013 and Summer 2013 terms.

With the exception of the placement test for admission into MATH 091, students are not allowed to rewrite the same level of placement test within a twelve-month period. The waiting period to rewrite the placement test for entry into MATH 091 is one month or longer.
