How do I apply to write the MPT?

MPT registration forms (pdf) and an MPT guide are available online or at the University Information Centre (BR 212) in the Birch building and at the Pure and Applied Sciences Division (FR 471) on the 4th floor of the Fir building. The MPT guide provides sample problems and references to other study materials.

To write the MPT you must:

1. Have a valid Capilano University student number.
2. Fill out the registration form (pdf) and either take it to the Cashier’s Office (BR 214) to pay the $10 fee prior to writing the test, or complete the Math Placement Test Credit Card Payment Form (pdf) and either e-mail a scanned copy of this completed credit card form to the Cashier’s Office at finserv@capilanou.ca or fax it to 604.984.1723.
3. Arrive at your test session at least 15 minutes before the start of the test. Calculators are not permitted in the test. You must bring the completed Math Placement Test Registration Form and Photo ID to the test.
4. Allow one day for the test to be graded and the results recorded. Your test results will be e-mailed to you, which includes a statement of eligibility for Capilano University mathematics courses, as well as a diagnostic assessment.

You are not allowed to rewrite the Precalculus or the Calculus MPT for admission into courses within a one-year period.
