French
All courses in French consist weekly of three instructional hours, one hour of conversation with a native speaker of French, and assignments in the Language Resource Centre on a drop-in basis (approximately 45 minutes) per week.
Which course to select?
- If you have never done any French courses, register in FRENCH 100
- If you have completed grade 11 French but not grade 12, register in FRENCH 120
- If you have completed grade 12 French BUT were not a student in immersion at the high school level, register in FRENCH 170
- If you were an immersion student for more than 9 years, normally you would register in FRENCH 180 but if it is not offered, please register in FRENCH 270 (please note that you must FIRST contact lgareau@capilanou.ca or cgloor@capilanou.ca to get a "pre-requisite override" in order to be able to register in French 270 via the web)
- If you have completed the equivalent of French 170/171 or 180/181, register in FRENCH 270
- If you have completed French 170/171 and would like to work specifically on your speaking abilities in French, register in FRENCH 215
For further assistance in determining what level of French to register in, please check out either the French Language Registration Chart (for general students) or the French Immersion Language Registration Chart (for former French Immersion students). If you do not fit any of these categories please contact one of the following French instructors: Lyne Gareau or Catherine Gloor.
Students with a competence in the language beyond the level of the course in which they are registered will be required to withdraw.
