Yayoi Shinbo

Y. SHINBO , Associate of Arts (Obirin), BA (UBC), MA (UBC)

Yayoi Shinbo was born and raised in Tokyo, Japan. Before she joined Capilano University, she taught university science students from across Canada, who participated in the Japan Co-op Program, for four years, and also taught adults from novice to advanced level at Canadian International College. Yayoi has been teaching Japanese conversation in Humanities since 1997 as well as in Continuing Education both at Capilano and UBC. In 1999, she received a grant from the Japan Foundation and participated in a three-week program for overseas Japanese teachers in Japan. When not teaching, Yayoi enjoys travelling, hiking and cooking; in spite of the fact that she does not have a green thumb, Yayoi also loves growing plants.
