Foundations in Illustration & Design

If you’re looking for a career as a designer, illustrator or fine artist, you’ll need to develop a great portfolio for art school admission. Our summer Foundations in Illustration & Design program offers five credit courses that have been designed to help students explore their strengths, build strong portfolios and learn all about career prospects in the creative industry.

Courses can be taken individually or in sequence leading to a certificate.

Three of the courses (Design Basics, Drawing Basics and Colour, Mediums & Techniques) are expessly designed to guide you in finalizing your portfolio content. Careers in Art and Design will give you the insight to choose your creative career direction and Contemporary Communication and Culture will especially benefit international students, providing an understanding of visual art culture in Canada.
