What’s all the FuSs AboUt?

The Canadian International Development Agency (CIDA) and the Global Stewardship Program at Capilano University are proud to announce the launch of a new Public Engagement initiative! This exciting new project aims to engage youth not only to raise awareness about the UN Millennium Development Goals (UNMDG's); but create a community of young social entrepreneurs whose sole mission is to take action on the UN MDG's. This initiative has 3 streams:

Justice High:
A series of symposiums for youth in high school to explore the issues that the UNMDG's are addressing. Global Stewardship students will engage youth through interactive workshops that educate, inspire, and promote taking action! We will be hosting an inspirational keynote speaker and young leaders emerging from Justice High are invited to participate in a Global Stewardship mentorship program.

Change Pilotz:
A 5 day youth camp for young leaders wishing to put their passion into action! Partner organizations in conjunction with Global Stews have designed a curriculum on how to develop a social enterprise from leadership and project development to fundraising. Capilano U's outdoor recreation program is on board to liven up the youth camps with exciting outdoor adventures. The final day at camp will be a "Dragon's Den" style competition where the new social entrepreneurs present their social enterprise proposal for a chance to win $1000 start-up grant. Post-camp the entrepreneurs are provided with mentorship from our partners.

Passport 2 Action!:
This is literally a passport that will be sent out to youth in high school starting in the Lower Mainland in year 1 and expanding out to the rest of the province in year 2. Students acquire stamps by attending an event or volunteering with our partner organizations. This is a great opportunity for organizations to reach out to youth. Each organization provides us with a schedule of events and volunteer opportunities that we include in the P2A package. Incentive? For students who fill their passport we offer prizes for most stamps and the grand prize is a guaranteed spot at Change Pilotz.
