Sheila M. ROSS, BA (UBC English and Fine Arts) MA (UBC), PhD (SFU)
Dr. Sheila M. Ross’s areas of specialization are hermeneutics (the nature and practices of interpretation) and contemporary narrative literatures and narrative theory. She also has a minor area of concentration in modern Canadian literature and can hold her own on British poets of the romantic period. With her interdisciplinary background in cultural theory, rhetoric, and literary theory, her research interests range from specific narrative genres and forms, such as apocalyptic fiction and film or memoir and “bio-fiction,” to such topics and themes as “revolution” in literature and film, the place of technology in a civil society, and concepts of identity and embodiment.
Her work on hermeneutics and narrative has appeared in Theory Culture & Society, comitatus, Minerva, Journal of the American Association for the Advancement of Curriculum Studies (JAAACS), and The Capilano Review.
