Emily KAY
Emily KAY, BSc. (UBC)
After graduating UBC with a BSc. in Chemistry, Emily took the next most logical step and spent a year abroad in a search for the world’s most intelligent sheep and the best bowl of hokey pokey ice cream.
Upon her return to Canada, she dabbled in the fine art of geochemical analysis through atomic absorption spectroscopy. In other words, soaking dirt in acid and then running it through fire. Several years were lost playing with the dirt, but at least it was fancy dirt from far off places like Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia.
After realizing that the dirt had a more interesting life than she did, she returned once again to the world of academia and began a diverse career as the temp-du-jour for Capilano University (nee College) spending time in the Chemistry Lab, the Children’s Centre, Purchasing, Cashier’s Office, Bookstore, HR . . . and she’s even been in Counselling a few times (to work, of course). All this before finally settling on the Humanities Division where the search for that illusive intelligent sheep continues. . . .
When not working at Cap or roaming the local coffee shops in search of the perfect mocha, Emily can be found in the doghouse, quite literally with her two rescued dogs-Coco, a Nova Scotia Duck Toller cross and Buster, an American Field Lab.
