What is English 225?
A supervised applied learning experience for 75 hours over 15 weeks. This course provides students with 75 hours of directed study experience in fields associated with the production, promotion, delivery and/or study of print and literary culture so students gain relevant work experience and are better able to move into the workplace.
Who can apply?
Any student formally registered in Creative Writing, CultureNet or the English Concentration who has completed 30 lower-level credits including 6 credits of 100-level English. Preference will be given to students who have completed 45 lower-level credits and are within 5 courses of completing their Associate of Arts degree in Creative Writing, Culture + Technology, or English.
How to apply?
Submit a short letter of intent (250 words) to Roger Farr (rfarr@capilanou.ca) and Aurelea Mahood (amahood@capilanou.ca), outlining why you want to participate in English 225, where you are interested in gaining experience (publishers, magazines, media outlets, arts organizations, etc.), and any specific skills you might be able to bring to the internship. The letter of intent can be sent as an email attachment to the above, or as a hard copy to Roger Farr/Aurelea Mahood c/o Humanities Division – FR 404, Capilano University, 2055 Purcell Way, North Vancouver BC, V7J 3H5. The letter, number of credits completed, and GPA will be used in the evaluation process.
