Student Projects

Students affiliated with the Department of English and Creative Writing at Capilano University are dynamic contributors to campus life. They are closely associated with a number of web-based and print publications.  Here are a few samples:

  • The Parallax:  Supported by the English Department, The Parallax is Capilano University’s new journal for cinephiles. It features student and faculty contributors and editors who have a shared interest in film and film critique. The journal is published biannually (in June & December) and is edited by students. Each edition is released in companion print and online (PDF) versions.
  • The Capilano Remix Project: student takes on community news - a joint project involving Creative Writing, CultureNet, and English.
  • Cap On Travel captures the ideas of 56 Capilano University undergraduates enrolled in two sections of English 100 – Academic Writing Strategies thematically organized around popular and academic interrogations of all things related to travel.  Throughout Fall 2010, the students will be posting their travel tales as well as responses to short stories, photography, creative non-fiction, and scholarly publications concerned with travel in all its pleasures and complexities.
  • The Capilano Undergraduate Review (CURE) is Capilano University's first digital open access peer-reviewed undergraduate journal - produced and written by students with the assistance and support of faculty.  The first issue was published in April 2010.  The topic explored in Vol 1 Issue 1 was Culture and Technology.  Vol 2 Issue 1 will be published in December 2010.  The topic in this issue will be travel.  For advance preview of the student work on this topic, check out Cap On Travel.
