Degree Admission Requirements for Summer 2012

BC Secondary School Graduation (Grade 12) or equivalent OR Mature Student status

English 12 or English 12 First Peoples or equivalency at the department's discretion

Applicants may be required to attend an interview

40 hours work experience (to be done as an employee or volunteer within the last two years in a licensed preschool or group care early childhood setting in B.C.)

Three letters of reference (two professional, one character)

A copy of any valid BC ECCE Licences (if applicable)

Notes:
At any time after acceptance to the program, students may be required to submit additional documentation (for example: criminal record check, medical exam, first aid certificate) as required by relevant health and ECE Registry authorities. Some of these items will be required before students are eligible to take courses required for program completion. Students will be notified of requirements as they become necessary.
Guidelines for Letter of Interest/Intent
1st Year Applicants
We are interested in hearing about:
a) The philosophies that currently shape your practice
b) The curiosities, interests, and experiences that currently shape your thinking regarding early childhood education.
2nd & 3rd Year Applicants
We are interested in hearing about:
a) The philosophies that currently shape your practice
b) Your professional curiosities, questions, and inquiries that may guide your research and learning.
Continuation in the Program
Continuation in each term of the programs is dependent upon the demonstration of satisfactory interpersonal, academic, and teaching/guiding skills. C- is the minimum acceptable grade in all courses within the Diploma and Certificates. 2.67 is the minimum GPA acceptable for continuation in the Degree.
