How and when do I apply?

Applications are accepted throughout the year, the program begins each September. There are two steps to the application process go to How to Apply

Do I have to pay the full tuition up front?

No, you pay per semester.

What other fees are required?

In addition to your tuition, all exceptional tuition fees, textbooks, administration fees, selective skills, photocopying and printing, membership and graduation fees and student services are additional costs borne by the student.

Is it possible to work while attending school?

While it is not the best scenario to work while attending school full time, for many working part- time is still necessary.

What is the housing situation like in Squamish?

There is no dorm on campus. The campus is within walking distance to downtown Squamish, the public transportation system is also available. For a current listings of available apartments visit www.squamishchief.com

Do I need my own transportation?

Buses or vans transport students outside of the Vancouver/Sea to Sky area when we are on field trips. Students are otherwise expected to get to the University themselves. Public transit is adequate for getting to and from school.

I know that Squamish is near Whistler but what is there to do there?

The question is what isn't there to do!  World Class mountain biking, windsurfing and climbing at your doorstep.  Not to mention the #1 Ski Resort, Whistler and the city of  Vancouver only 40 minutes in either direction.  Visit www.tourismsquamish.com to learn more about Squamish, the self- proclaimed Outdoor Recreation Capital of Canada.

Can I transfer courses into the Diploma?

The Destination Resort Management Co-op diploma program follows the BC Tourism Learning System's standardized core curriculum which allows students to transfer courses between institutions. We accept transfer of course from:

College of the Rockies

Northwest Community College

Camosun College

Selkirk College

Douglas College

Thompson Rivers University

Vancouver Island University

Yukon College

North Island College

In addition, students enrolled in business related courses may also be able to transfer their course credits to the diploma program. Please review the block transfer section of the online B.C. Transfer Guide and contact the Tourism Department for specific course transfer details.

I want to enroll in the Bachelor of Tourism Management program, can I do so with this Diploma?

Yes, the Destination Resort Management Co-op Diploma serves as the first two years of the Bachelor of Tourism Management.
