Associate of Arts degree - B.C. Studies concentration

The Associate of Arts degree - British Columbia Studies concentration provides students with an understanding of British Columbia from a wide variety of analytical viewpoints.

Students will have the opportunity to examine the province from the perspectives of art history, cultures and society, environment and geography, history and politics, and linguistics and literature. There is also has a strong First Nations component.

Get a head start on your bachelor's degree
The concentration is designed to stand alone as an Associate degree or to facilitate transfer to four-year institutions.

Completing this Associates degree:

  • guarantees 60 credits of university transfer, which can be the equivalent of your first two years of study, if you choose your courses wisely.
  • offers the potential to satisfy the requirements for the Canadian Studies specialty, and both UBC and SFU offer bachelor degrees in Canadian Studies.
  • satisfies the elementary teacher education prerequisites for at least SFU, which include Canadian History, Canadian Geography, English, Mathematics and laboratory science.
