Awards for ABA-A Students

The following awards are specific to the ABA-A Debree Program:

THE APPLIED BEHAVIOUR ANALYSIS - AUTISM DEGREE ENTRANCE AWARD (#0791) 

When to apply: Fall 

Entrance awards to assist students entering the full-time Applied Behaviour Analysis – Autism degree program at Capilano University have been established through support from donors. The objective of the award is to assist students who wish to build careers working with families with children who have autism. This award is renewable for one year. Each award is a maximum of $4,000 in respect of any academic year and payable directly toward tuition. 

Criteria: (eligibility)
1) Financial need (confidential and as determined by Financial Aid)
2) Have been accepted into, and must ultimately attend at least three courses with a total of 9 credits, in the first year of the ABA-A degree program
3) Submit a two page, single-spaced letter that outlines their interest in the program, intended career goals and any work, volunteer or otherwise, that supports their goals 

Criteria: (renewal)
1) Continues to demonstrate financial need (confidential and as determined by Financial Aid)
2) Intends to (and ultimately does) complete the second year of full-time studies in the ABA-A degree program
3) Has passed, and achieved and average GPA of at least 3.04) Was in full-time attendance in the program during the immediate preceding academic year

KAPOOR SINGH SIDDOO FOUNDATION APPLIED BEHAVIOUR ANALYSIS BURSARY (#0812) 

When to apply: Fall 

This award, established by the Kapoor Singh Siddoo Foundation, supports deserving students in the area of Applied Behaviour Analysis. Since the time of its founding in 1963 by Kapoor Singh Siddoo, one of the early pioneers of the BC lumber industry, the Foundation has been dedicated to philanthropy for the underprivileged. It has always had a dual mandate of helping to alleviate the plight of rural people unable to afford medical attention in India (where it runs a small charitable clinic) and of supporting education in Canada (where it provides a number of bursaries and scholarships at universities). The Foundation also donates regularly to local hospitals. Each award is a minimum of $500. 

Criteria:
1) Enrolled as a full-time student in the ABA-A Program at Capilano University
2) Financial need (to be determined by Financial Aid)3) Submission of a letter, highlighting interest in the program and career goals

MINERVA FOUNDATION AWARD FOR BC WOMEN (#0788) 

When to apply: Fall/ Spring (varies) 

This bursary was generously sponsored by the John Gordon Autism Foundation. The Minerva Foundation was initiated in 1999 to provide funds for projects that will assist women to realize their potential and to create a safe place for them to live and work in British Columbia. The Minerva Foundation has partnered with the Capilano University Foundation to provide two annual awards for female students enrolled in the Applied Behavioural Analysis degree program. Two awards are given, one a maximum of $2,500 and the other a maximum of $1,250.

Criteria:
1)    Financial need (to be determined by Financial Aid) 

In addition to the criterion above, one or more of the criteria listed below:
I) Single mothers who are advancing their education
II) Mature women who are undergoing re-training into the workforce after a long absence
III) Aboriginal women or women with disabilities overcome educational barriers
