The strength of any animation program is based on the people involved in delivering a successful educational experience.

Digital Animation Program

The Digital Animation Program has one full-time instructor and a number of part-time instructors who work in the animation industry. As our course is based on industry production practices, it's important that we remain involved and current in the ever changing computer animation industry.

Craig Simmons: Digital Animation and Summer Intensives Program Coordinator

Diploma Digital Art & Design, Diploma Fine Arts (TRU), Certified Instructor Development (NewBrunswick)
Craig is a graduate of the Thomson Rivers University with diplomas in Digital Art & Design and Fine Arts. In the past twenty years Craig has worked as a freelance designer/animator, owned a small design studio, and has developed numerous successful animation training programs in British Columbia and New Brunswick. As a professional artist he has worked on a large variety of projects from multimedia projects to virtual reality. Craig is currently teaching various 3D Modeling, Texturing, Design and Digital Painting courses in Digital Animation, Digital Visual Effects and Commercial Animation.

Judi Fletcher: Program Assistant

Judi is the backbone of the animation programs at Capilano University, providing administrative support for the students and faculty. She is the friendly voice you'll talk to when you phone in for information and she is always eager to help new and returning students. Judi has a large number of responsibilities from dealing with applications and request for program information to organizing events. If you need information about the animation programs, Judi is the person to contact!

Adam Sale: 3D Animation Instructor

Certified Softimage XSI Instructor, Certificate 3D Animation & Digital Effects (Vancouver Film School), Autodesk Master

Adam co-founded Joncrow Entertainment in 1998. The company has serviced a varied portfolio of corporate clients in Film, Broadcast, Print and Games; Bardel Entertainment, Autodesk, Avid Inc., 3dTutorial.com, EA, BCAA, Traction Creative, Just Leap In, Mercury Filmworks, Scorched Wood, Digital Alchemy, Honkworm International, Nightfall Productions, and more.  Adam is a master Softimage XSI user and has provided more than 130 hours of intermediate / advanced video training content aimed at studio artists and students for Softimage XSI.

Adam works primarily as an animation, rigging and effects portfolio specialist. He also works with local industry providing internal educational training. To date, he has worked with student-artists on more than 1300 student films and portfolios. Adam is responsible for delivering the Computer Animation courses acting as the technical director for character rigging, animation and effects.

Eric Do: Drawing & Design Instructor

Eric is a graduate of the Digital Animation program at Capilano University. He studied classical animation at Sheridan College. Eric has been working in the games industry as a concept and 3D artist since 2001 at various game studios including Electronic Arts, Radical Entertainment and Ubisoft Vancouver. He has worked on numerous games including SSX3, Need For Speed: Underground 2, Scarface, and Prototype.

Seng Lau: Animation Instructor

Seng is a graduate of the Commercial and Digital Animation programs at Capilano University.  Seng has been working in the animation industry for many years in 2D and 3D animation.  Seng has a wealth of experience in feature film, television and game animation and has worked at several animation studios including Next Level Games, Rainmaker Entertainment, Studio B Productions and Vanguard Animation. Seng worked on Space Chimps, Pucca, Coconut Fred and various game projects. Seng is currently working as an animator at Relic Entertainment in Vancouver.

Adam Garland: 3D Instructor and Lab Supervisor

Adam is a graduate of the Digital Animation program at Capilano University. He has over 15 years of experience dealing with computer technology and computer graphics. As a lab supervisor, Adam's primary responsibility is to keep the labs in tip-top shape and to assist students with their projects. He lends a helping hand wherever it is needed. Adam is currently freelancing for the game industry as an artist and animator as well as teaching in both the Digital Animation and Digital Visual Effects programs.
