I had nothing but an enjoyable and educationally rewarding experience at College. As a result of my experience with the staff, instructors and students in the Accounting Assistant Program, I decided to go ahead and pursue my Bachelor’s Degree in Business. Initially, I was only planning to obtain my Accounting Assistant Certificate, but after the huge successes and personal accomplishments I had over the 10 months of the program, I decided to further my education and continue my exploration into the business world. When the bank that I had worked at for five years closed, I wasn’t sure what I should do. Getting another job would have been easy but the feeling of starting at entry level again didn’t sit well. I considered school as an option and after hearing some very positive reviews about Capilano, I enrolled in the Accounting Assistant program.

There are many reasons why Capilano proved to be an excellent place to learn. The faculty in the Applied Business Technology department were amazing, not only because of their skills and abilities in their respective fields, but because of their genuine interest in seeing that I did well and got the most that I could out of my studies. I was challenged by the course from my first day and learned relevant skills towards a future job in an accounting-related career. The work practicum was a huge bonus that not a lot of other colleges offer and really made a difference for me. I now work for ICBC in their finance department, earning nearly twice as much as I did when the bank closed. Thank you to all at Capilano and especially to the faculty in the Applied Business Technology department. I would recommend the Accounting Assistant Program to any one who is looking for a new career path and want to learn challenging and relevant skills in a positive learning environment. I, of course, knew that I had made a good decision by enrolling in the Accounting Assistant Program at Capilano. But it was not until I reached Capilano that I realized that my decision was better than just good.
