Access to Work Program

The Access to Work program is a 21 week program for students who need extra support to be successful in the workplace.  This tuition free program combines 50% classroom learning time with 50% time at work experience.

Class instruction emphasizes the development of  practical work skills which are required in all employment situations. Students will focus on Aptitudes and Interests, Occupational Health and Safety, Employability Skills, Customer Service and Work Experience in a work sector of  their interest.

To prepare for the work experience placement each student will meet with faculty to discuss an individual plan.  The plan will set personal goals for work readiness that will be monitored throughout the program. The work experience placement is determined by the student's interests and abilities.  The placement will gradually increase from 2 days per week to 5 days a week.  The goal for each student on work experience is to learn and demonstrate the specific skills needed on during an extended work experience placement period.
