Seminar looks at the true costs of our food choices
NORTH VANCOUVER, B.C.)—A free seminar at Capilano College will explore the foods we choose to purchase and their far-reaching impacts on the environment. The event runs on Thursday, February 12 at 7 p.m. in the Cedar building, room 148.
Three speakers, hosted by the College’s Environmental Science and Management program, will look at the environmental costs of food production, as well as some options and alternatives. They include: Herb Barbolet, FarmFolk/CityFolk Society; Meidad Kissinger, UBC’s School of Regional Planning; and, Dave Way, EarthSave Canada. True costs of our food include many factors ranging from the price of energy, to transportation, to the impact of conventional agriculture on water supply.
Don’t miss this informative and educational evening that may impact the public’s grocery lists.
