Guests

How can my guests attend if I did not reserve space for them when I confirmed my attendance?
If you did not specify that you will be bringing guests when you confirmed your attendance, please email your request to convocation@capilanou.ca. Please do not confirm your attendance more than once. Please note that we cannot guarantee guest tickets after the confirmation period has ended. 

Can more than four guests attend my ceremony?  
Each graduate is entitled to bring FOUR guests. A limited number of seats will be available for general public. Please check back for link to RSVP online.

How much does it cost to attend?
The fee per graduate is $40 (this includes gown & cap, guest tickets & parking).

Where should my family and friends sit?
Guests may sit anywhere except in the marked graduate area and any seats marked "reserved." Please allow guests with mobility impairment, small children or other special needs priority in the area marked "easy access seating."

 

Credentials

What do I do if my name is mispelled on my credentials?
Please telephone the Registrar's Office to request a replacement at no charge.

When will I get my credentials if I cannot attend the ceremony?
If you are not planning to attend Convocation and your application for graduation is complete, your credential(s) will be mailed to you the day after the ceremony. You do not need to inform the university if you are unable to attend your ceremony.

 

The Ceremony

When is my ceremony?
Please check back for information on Spring 2012 Convocation.

How long is the ceremony?
Ceremonies typically last about one and a half hours. Make sure your guests aren't late, or they may miss you walking across the stage!

Where do I go the day of my ceremony?
Go to the Gown Pick Up room to get your gown, cap and name card. After you have picked up your name card and gown, report to the Assembly Area in the Birch Building Cafeteria. Signs will be posted to help you locate the area.

How do I get a graduation cap?
Caps are provided when you pick up your gown. The tassel colour corresponds to your Faculty and cannot be purchased separately.

Where do I go if I'm late for my ceremony?
Please make every effort to arrive with plenty of time before you ceremony. If you do arrive late, please pick up your name card and gown and then locate a convocation official in a black gown. He or she will escort you to the rear of the graduate seating area. When your program is being presented, move to the end of the line of your classmates.

Will there be a reception after the ceremony?
Yes. There will be a reception in the cafeteria in the Birch Building immediately following the ceremony.

When do I have to return my gown?
Please return your gown to the gown room immediately following the ceremony. You will be charged $85 for your gown if it is not returned.
