Provincial Examinations

Effective: Fall 2008

BC Secondary School students applying to Capilano University will not require optional provincial exam results for admission to the University.  However, students must have written provincial exams in any subject where it is mandatory to meet the BC Graduation Program requirements.

For those students who choose to write an optional examination, Capilano University will consider the higher of the school mark or the blended school and exam mark for admission purposes.

Career/Vocational Programs

British Columbia secondary school graduation (Grade 12) or equivalent.

Arts and Sciences Programs

British Columbia Secondary School Graduation (Grade 12) or equivalent with a minimum grade point average (GPA) of 2.0 (60%) calculated on English 12* or English 12 First Peoples and three academic Grade 12 courses selected from the list below:

*Students who have successfully completed an Advanced Placement (AP) or International Baccalaureate (IB) course in one of the above subjects marked with an asterisk may use the AP or IB course, for the purpose of admission, in place of the equivalent BC Grade 12 course.

Other qualifications for meeting admission requirements:

  • International Baccalaureate (IB) Diploma, or
  • British Columbia Adult Dogwood Graduation Diploma, or
  • General Education Diploma (GED), or
  • Mature Student Status
