Facts You Should Know

Address Changes:

Address changes should be made via the MyCap page. Students are responsible for ensuring that their address information is both current and correct.

Request Official Transcripts:

Official transcripts are issued by the Registrar's Office, only on the signed, written request of the student, and are mailed directly to the institution, agency, or student in a sealed envelope. The transcript request form can be downloaded.

  • Transcript requests can be made by mail, by fax, or in person at the Registrar's Office and are processed in the order in which they are received. Normal processing time for transcripts is five (5) working days. However, the time to process your request may increase during peak periods.
  • All debts to the University must be cleared before a transcript will be issued.

Transfer Credit/Substitution/Exemption:

Transfer credit/substitution/exemption is not awarded automatically. Students must submit a Request for Transfer Credit Form. All requests for transfer credit, substitution, and exemption must be supported by an official transcript. For courses completed at out-of-province institutions, detailed course outlines must also be submitted. The University also reserves the right to request detailed course outlines for some courses taken within British Columbia.

Requests for transfer credit, substitution and exemption can be made by mail, by fax, or in person at the Registrar's Office. Requests for transfer credit should be made at least three weeks prior to your registration day and time if if you plan to use the transfer credit to fulfil course prerequisites necessary for registration.

Course Availability:

Admission to the University does not guarantee registration in any or all courses in which you wish to enrol.

Course Clashes:

You will not be permitted to register in courses with conflicting class times (i.e. two or more courses scheduled at the same time or with overlapping times).

Audit Status:

You will be permitted to register as an audit student only if space is available and if you have the instructor's approval during the Add/Drop Period. In order to change from credit to audit or audit to credit during the Add/Drop Period you must submit a Course Change form to the Registrar's Office. The instructor's signature and an appropriate date are required on all Course Change forms. You may not change from credit to audit or audit to credit online via the MyCap page. Audit registrants pay regular tuition and all other assessed student fees.

Audit students do not sit examinations, submit work, papers, lab reports, etc. However, attendance at lectures, labs and seminars is required. Audit status is not calculated in the GPA, does not have credit attached, and may not be used toward completion of a credential.
