Ways to Give
Creating Experience. Creating Advantage.

We would be pleased to work with you to structure a gift that meets with your motivations for giving and financial considerations. Your gift can be directed to support any department, program, or project of your choice. We do not charge an administrative fee; therefore the full amount of your gift will be used as directed.
You can choose to establish an endowment to support your area of interest. In this situation, the donation is invested and only the interest generated annually is used. By choosing to endow your gift, you create ongoing support for the University. A minimum of $10,000 is required to establish an endowment. This can be pledged over 5 years. The University has limited funds available for gifts over $1,000 for endowments that support student financial assistance, therefore only requiring a $5,000 pledge to establish an endowment.
Current Giving
- We welcome gifts by cash, cheque, securities, money order or credit card.
- Many donors choose to make donations to honour friends, colleagues or family.
- Recent government changes completely removed the capital gains tax on donations of securities.

Deferred Giving
A bequest in your will is a powerful way to provide a legacy of support to programs and students. A bequest could be for a specific amount, percentage of your estate, or consist of property, real estate or shares. Your professional legal and financial advisors can help determine which option would best fit with your estate plans. Any bequest to the University should refer to the legal name of Capilano University Foundation and the Charitable Business #11883 7756 RR0001. The Foundation’s address is 2055 Purcell Way, North Vancouver, BC V7J 3H5, which should also be included.
Life Insurance
Life insurance offers another vehicle for providing a charitable gift. You can donate an existing policy and receive a charitable receipt for the cash surrender value of the policy. If further payments are required on the policy, you can receive a tax receipt for premium payments you make after the policy is assigned to the Foundation.
You can also take out a new policy and designate the Foundation as the owner and beneficiary of the policy. You will receive a charitable tax receipt for the full amount of the annual premiums paid.
