Cindy Turner Born in Fort William, Ontario and raised in Duncan, British Columbia, Cindy joined Capilano University in 2005 as Chief Information Officer. Prior to coming to Capilano, Cindy was Director of Information Systems with the BC Buildings Corporation, and the Director of Information Technology with the City of North Vancouver. She led the City through several pivotal projects, including a web project that won the Union of British Columbia Municipalities Best Local Government Web Site Award in 2000. Today, as Vice-President of Finance and Administration, Cindy is responsible for Finance, Buildings and Grounds, Contract Services and Capital Planning and Information Technology. Cindy says she works at Capilano because: “It’s full of great people, making it a great place to work!” She has been a member of the Certified General Accountants Association since 1993 and is also a member of the Canadian Information Processing Society, where she served as Membership Chair from 2003 - 2004. Cindy was a founding member and past President of the Municipal Information Systems Association (1994) and was honoured with a lifetime membership for her contributions. She is a past member of the Chief Information Officer Association of Canada, the Information System Audit and Control Association and the Institute for Certification of Computer Professionals. In addition to her work experience, Cindy has volunteered with several organizations, including the Lincoln Toastmasters, the City of North Vancouver Managerial Association, Ariel Trampoline and Acrosports, and BC Trampoline and Acrosports. Cindy is a Certified General Accountant (CGA) and holds a General Certificate in Public Sector Management, is an Information Systems Professional (ISP), a Certified Computer Professional (CCP), and has a Capilano Diploma in Business Administration. She currently lives in West Vancouver with her husband, Darrell, and has one son, one daughter and four grandchildren. Together they enjoy skiing and spending time with family. |
