The following items have been updated in the Active CM online help system:
Digital asset meta tags: A new tab has been added to the Global System Variables as well as to the edit mode in the Digital Asset Manager. The new tabs allow for the configuration of meta data tags that can be applied to digital assets. This allows the system to dynamically pull assets based on meta tag values. See Editing digital assets.
Displaying child page links on the Section Menu: changes have been made on the Design tab and the Site Design manager in order to clarify and simplify use of the Include in Section Menu and Include new Children in Section Menu fields. With these changes, a re-publish of a parent page no longer resets the children's section menu settings unless you have intentionally changed the settings on the parent. See Page editor sections & tabs and Configuring page design features.
Enhanced ACM Search Page: Additional search criteria have been added to the Search page, allowing users to s search based on a variety of criteria across a site section, an entire site, or all sites within the ACM installation. Results can also be filtered based on relevance and published date. Users can also control keyword/phrase searches by enclosing phrases in quotation marks. See Creating search pages.
Forum page enhancements: A number of features have been added to the Forum page including: additional banning features, added control over Forum navigation, the ability to track topics of interest, additional formatting features (fonts, colours, etc.), an online user indicator, forum cookies to allow system to show read/unread status of messages for logged-in users. See Creating forum pages.
Survey results download enhancements: You can now delete unwanted survey results and download survey results, based on a range of dates or result numbers. See Viewing and downloading survey and form results.
New in Active Content Manager 9.0
The following items have been updated in the Active CM online help system:
Editing images in Digital Asset Manager: You can now perform basic image editing functions on the Edit Digital Asset page of the Digital Asset Manager. An Edit link has been added for each image. By clicking this link, you can resize, crop, and rotate images. See Editing digital assets.
Search for digital assets by digital asset ID number: You can now search for assets by digital asset ID number in the Digital Asset Manager. See Finding digital assets for more information.
Search and replace feature: You can now do a search and replace across an entire site or a section of a site. The search results are displayed in context and you are given the option to replace items on an individual basis or all at once. This new tool is available for System Administrators only and is located in the System Information under Tools. See Search and replace for more information.

Comments pagelet: Using Comments pagelets, content providers can allow authenticated or anonymous uses to comment on items or issues on their websites. A comment management feature allows content providers to edit, hide, delete, and view submitted comments. See Creating comments pagelets.
Dynamic layout pages: You can now specify an external link to open in a new browser window. See Creating dynamic layout pages.
Images on Multi Poll pagelets: You can now add thumbnail images to the multi-poll pagelets. See Creating multi poll pagelets.
Forum page: The forum page type provides categorized discussion boards. A forum visitor can browse through different sub-forums and open each discussion thread. With a public or standard ACM account, a user can also contribute to the forum by starting a new discussion topic or replying to existing threads. See Forum pages overview.
Google Map pagelet: The Google Map feature is now available as a pagelet as well as a page. The feature maintains the same functionality as the Google Map page type and allows you to add a link to a larger version of the pagelet map (to a Google Map page). See Creating Google Map pagelets.
HTML Consumer Search and Replace: The ability to search and replace strings in consumed content has been added to this page type. See Creating HTML consumer pages.
Job Centre: This new feature provides job listing management functionality. It includes a Job Centre main page where users can search for and view details of job postings, a new SyndicatedJob Posting page as well as a new Application Form for users to apply for jobs. See Job Centre pages overview.
Multi-Poll Cookie Enhancement: You can now limit voting to once per day for a contest. A new cookie option has been added to the Multi-Poll. The cookie expires on a daily basis (not a 24 hour basis) so that if a user votes at 5pm on the July 1, they can vote again at 10am on July 2 but not before midnight of July 1. See Creating multi-poll pagelets.
Ratings pagelets and Ratings report pages: The new pagelet type allows you to add a page-rating feature to your pages. Visitors to your site can then rate each page tp which you apply the pagelet. The Ratings report page allows you to create a report showing all pages and their overall ratings. See Creating ratings pagelets and Creating ratings report pages.
New in Active Content Manager 8.9
The following items have been updated in the Active CM online help system:
Archive enhancement: When you archive a parent page, all child pages are now automatically archived as well.
Batch restore/delete archive: You can now archive multiple pages at the same time instead of having to archive pages individually. The system also records the date the content was archived. This feature is available on the Child Pages tab (Archive column) and in the Archive Manager.
Calendar controls enhancement: Content providers can now choose what type of controls are to be used for switching between years on the Calendar page. Previously, the Calendar used “<” and “>” as the calendar controls. Providers can now upload an image for these controls or edit the text for the controls. See Creating calendar pages
Child pages tab enhancement: In order to reduce the time it takes to load a page in the Page Editor, the list of child pages is no longer automatically loaded immediately upon entering edit mode of a page. Users can choose to view all child pages, a specific page, or none of the child pages. This change also applies to content listed in the Syndication Manager. See Page editor sections & tabs - Child Pages tab.
Design tab: A Design tab has been added to the tabs displayed in the Page Editor. This new tab allows you to quickly input scripts that will be inserted within the <head> tags when published. Additional settings that were only available in the Site Design Manager are now available on the Design tab. See Page editor sections & tabs for more information.
Email encryption enhancements: The system now supports encrypted email using the latest version of ActiveUp which supports SSL1, SSL2 and TLS (SSL3). See Configuring encrypted email services.
Email tab: An Email tab has been added to the Listing Service, Blog and Calendar page types. This new tab allows users to customize predefined email templates that are associated with each page type. See Page editor sections & tabs for more information.
Preview pagelet edits: When editing an existing pagelet, you can preview how the changes will appear when published. See Editing pagelets.
Printer Friendly links on pages: Instructions have been added for placing a Printer Friendly link on your pages. See Printer friendly versions of pages.
Survey page enhancements: Survey response emails can now be sent in HTML or in plain text and you can customize the subject line of the emails. See Creating surveys and forms.
User id enhancement: User id controls have been enhanced to allow duplicate user ids provided that the user ids reside in separate Site Groups. See Creating users.

Dynamic layout enhancement: Users can now define multiple layout definitions and indicate dates on which these definitions should be activated and deactivated. This allows for the update of site content without the presence of a content provider (e.g. over the weekend or other holiday). See Creating dynamic layout pagelets or Creating dynamic layout pages.
Flash photo gallery enhancement: You can now control additional font settings (such as the one for the image caption) and control positioning of the viewer's navigation controls. See Creating flash photo gallery pages.
Flickr content page enhancements: A number of enhancements have been made to the Flickr page type. There are now additional controls you can add to give the end user control over how they view slideshows. A link to the page where you can obtain an API has been added, and de-select/select all capability has been added for selecting images to include. See Creating Flickr content pages.
Listing Service page type: This new page type allows public users, businesses and vendors to submit their business information for display on a government website page. The page is designed to accommodate any type of listing but is primarily used for Business Listings. See Creating listing service pages.
Multi-poll pagelet enhancement: Users can enable the “View Results” link for a poll even if the “Vote Once” setting is enabled. See Creating Multi-poll pagelets.
New in Active Content Manager 8.8
The following items have been updated in the Active CM online help system:
Site Groups - Site groups allow you to maintain multiple unrelated sites in separate and distinct groups. When sites are divided into groups, all data, configuration, content and assets are maintained completely separate from each other so there is no chance of confusing or mixing content. See Site groups overview.
Public User Login/Logout Interface - . three new Ironpoint tags that you set in the ironpoint.config file will insert some new elements into the user interface. These new interface elements will allow public users to create their own unique user accounts and login with the account IDs they create. Once they are logged in, a greeting message can be displayed to the specific user. Options are also provided to logged in users to let them edit their account information and logout. See the Public user sections of the Application forms overview topic.
CAPTCHA feature - "A CAPTCHA is a program that protects websites against bots by generating and grading tests that humans can pass but current computer programs cannot. For example, humans can read distorted text but current computer programs can't". See the Survey Properties section of Creating surveys and forms.

Active Knowledgebase - this new feature allows you to quickly create and publish knowledgebase articles complete with associated articles, knowledge experts, attached documents and related links. Knowledgebase articles can be easily emailed to others and shared externally with knowledgebases in other ACM installations. This new syndicated knowledgebase is an ideal complement to other call center products. See Active knowledgebase overview.
ACR/ACM integration - for those using the new Active knoweldgebase feature with Active Citizen Request, there are a number of features added to the knowledgebase article functionality. See ACR integration with ACM knowledgebase.
Flickr page type - this new page types allows you to access content from a Flickr account and display it on an Active Content Manager page. See Flickr content pages overview.
New in Active Content Manager 8.6
The following items have been updated in the Active CM online help system:
Admin Toolbar - the new admin toolbar has a new appearance, uses its own CSS classes and can be docked at the top of the page or allowed to float on the page. All drop-downs on the menu now use unordered lists for their formatting.
Creating accordion format section menus - this feature allows you to create an expanding and collapsing accordion format section menu that uses simple JavaScript. SeeCreating accordion format section menus.
Enable/Disable tabs in edit mode - system administrators can now disable unnecessary tabs from the Page Editor. See Setting global system variables - System Variables tab.
Form Tag Enhancements - changes to the form tag have been made that allow a user to manually disable the form tag for a page through the site design manager. See Using <form> tags on pages.
Inherit Parent Pagelets - a new button on the Pagelets tab of the Page Editor allows you to assign all zones and pagelets from the parent page to the current child page. See Adding pagelets to pages.
Public User account type - you can now create Application Forms, Users and User Groups that are flagged as Public Users. These accounts require minimal information for registration and have limited access to personalized sections of your site. See Application forms overview - Public User account application forms.
Support Contact Information - there is now an About ACM option on the Help menu (on the Admin toolbar). You can configure now add Support Contact information on a site-by-site basis so that users of each of your sites can contact a specific help center. See Customizing support contact information.
TinyMCE Editor - ACM users can now opt to use the TinyMCE html editor instead of the ACM's default r.a.d. editor. See Using the TinyMCE editor.
Turn off Form Tag checkbox - this checkbox, which appeared when editing a page in the Site Design manager, has been removed. Form Tags are now controlled through the IronPoint.config file. See Using <form> tags on pages.
Using the online Help Index - this is a new topic describing how to use the Help Index to find what you need in the online Help system. See Using the online Help Index.
View Active Sessions - system administrators can now monitor system activity through the System Information Manager's new View Active Sessions feature. Session number, user name, session duration, current page and mode are all displayed. See Viewing active sessions.

Article page type enhancements - additional fields can now be flagged as hidden without having to edit the Advanced Layout Options. See Creating article pages.
Digital Asset Gallery page enhancement - this page type now allows you to force all digital assets on the published page to open in a new window. See Creating digital asset gallery pages.
FAQ Pagetype CSS update - the CSS for the FAQ Pagetype contains a new class name for formatting unordered lists. The new class type is called "ipf-faq-questionlist" and gives users control over how unordered lists appear on the FAQ page.
Google Map page enhancements - this page type has been enhanced to include a dynamic map point generator
Google Sitemap enhancement - this page type now accomodates zipped sitemap index files.
Microsoft Map page type - this new page type allows you to create a map for your site using the Microsoft 2D and 3D (virtual earth) functionality. You can map office and store locations, and define other points and routes between points.
Proposal Builder - This feature allows you to combine the contents of a number of documents from your Digital Assets Gallery and output them as a single new document. See Building new proposals from existing docs.
QuickLinks page type enhancement - this page now contains an option to include a thumbnail image of the article in view mode of the QuickLinks page type.
RFP and RFP Landing Page Types - these new pages allow you to manage Requests For Proposals, including all documents, bidders, submissions, and more. The RFP Landing page type serves as a parent page for RFP pages and provides a search mechanism for users to search your list of RFPs. See Creating RFP Landing pages and Creating RFP pages.
RSS Feeds Page - this page type now includes Introduction and Conclusion text editor windows.
Survey enhancements - customizable alerts that are displayed when required fields are not completed by a respondent have been added to the Survey form page type.
New in Active Content Manager 8.4
The following items have been updated in the Active CM online help system:
Calendar and calendar event enhancements: The Calendar page allows you to add the Add Event to Outlook button to both the Calendar and the Calendar Event pages. Events can now also be set to open in a new window and you can set the display dimensions for the new window. A field has also been added to the Calendar Event page that allows you to specify a Location for the event. See Creating calendar pages and Creating calendar events.
Edit lock - system administrators can now set the system to lock pages so that only one person at a time can make edits to the page. See Setting global system variables, the Enable edit lock feature.
Importing and exporting survey questions - you can now export existing survey questions and then import them to a survey on a different site. This is an easy way to duplicate survey questions across many locations. See Importing and exporting survey questions.
Limitation on number of menu items removed - there is no longer a limit on the number of items a menu can contain. Prior to this release, menus could contain a maximum of 25 items. This limit has been removed.
Session timeout warning and reset - Site administrators can now use a system setting to display a session timeout warning message for anonymous users who are in the middle of completing online questionnaires on your site, as well as for logged-in users working on your site in edit mode. Users who receive the message while working on the system will be given the opportunity to extend their session. See Session timeout warning and reset.
Show workflow notes - you can now view a history of the workflow notes from the Page Summary section of a page in edit mode. Simply click on the Show Workflow Notes link displayed to the right of the HTML Title field.
Strong password requirements - Administrators can define password creation limitations to force users to create strong passwords. See Setting global system variables.
Survey attachments saved to site-specific folders - when a user adds an attachment to a survey on your site, the attachment is now saved in a site-specific folder using the path format: /CMS Root/Sites/3/Attachments/Page1334/. This makes finding attachments easier when a single ACM installation has multiple sites.

eCard page type - There is now an eCard page that allows visitors to your site to send images or other files you provide from your Digital Asset library. See Creating eCard pages.
Flash photo gallery page type - there is an enhanced photo gallery page type called the Flash Gallery Page that allows you to create a photo gallery page that uses flash features to enhance the interactivity and display of the published page. See Creating flash photo gallery pages.
LDAP extension enhancement - Novell is now supported with the LDAP extension in the ACM.
New in Active Content Manager 8.3
The following items have been updated in the Active CM online help system:
Changing page types: System administrators can change a page from one page type to another. See Changing a page's page type.
Child Templates: A template different from the parent page's can now be assigned all at once to all of a parent page's children. This change is seen on the Page Design Details within the Site Design Manager. See Applying design templates to pages and Configuring page design features.
Copy Users and User Groups: You can now copy an existing user or user group to a new user or user group. All settings, with the exception of personal information such as passwords, are copied to the new record. You can then make changes and save. See Copying users and Copying groups.
Delete Design Packages: You can now delete unnecessary design packages from the Site Design Manager, thus freeing up server space. See Deleting design packages.
Disable Editor on Uneditable pages: When viewing a page for Review or Approval purposes, the editor will now be disabled so that changes cannot be made and later lost. In previous versions, the editors were enabled allowing users to make changes that they would not actually be permitted to save.
Disable Workflow Notes: You can now turn workflow notes off for a single site or for all sites in your ACM installation. See Disabling workflow notes.
Friendly URLs for Digital Assets: When creating digital assets there is a new URL field that you can use to create a frienly URL. If you are using Friendly URLs on your site, this is the URL that the asset will display on both the dynamic and static sites. See Friendly URLs and Adding digital assets to the library for more information.
Group Access Rights to Templates and Page Design: Access to the Site Design Manager has now been split into two areas, allowing greater specificity of access rights to the Site Design function. This changes is reflected on the Tools tab in the Group Manager where there are now these two options for site design:

Page Owners: Through a combination of a new global system variable, template variables and a new group setting, you can assign page owners to each page within an ACM site. The owner contact information/email link can also be displayed on the published page. See Setting up the page owner feature and Assigning page owners to pages.
Select/Deselect
all checkboxes in a column: the ACM now has a means for you to
select or deselect an entire column of checkboxes. A checkmark is now
displayed for columns where this functionality is available (
). Click on the checkmark to select or deselect all checkboxes
in the column. This is available for example on the Child Pages tab in
the Page Editor.
New in Active Content Manager 8.2
The following items have been updated in the Active CM online help system:
Article Page Type: Use the new Article page type to create content in an article format that includes an article title and subtitle, an image, and author and date information. You can select from three different default article layouts and customize them as you wish using the advanced layout options. See Creating article pages.
Randomizer Pagelet: The ACM now features a pagelet whose content changes each time visitors to your site access the page. The new pagelet points to a parent page, whose children are randomly displayed each time the page is viewed or refreshed. See Creating randomizer pagelets.
Course search results pagination: course search results can be set to a maximum number of results per page. Users can view additional courses on subsequent pages via links. Creating a course search page.
Reuploading Digital Assets in the Editor: users can now re-upload (import) digital assets to the Digital Asset library while using the Insert Digital Asset button in the html editor window of a page. See Inserting digital assets.
Deleting digital asset history: you can now delete (remove completely) historical versions of digital assets, thus freeing up more space on your system. See Deleting digital assets.
Creating a Slideshow (or browse sequence): A series of links allowing users to browse back and forth through a collection of child pages can now be added to your page templates. See Creating a slideshow.
Secure FTP feature: The ACM allows you to configure secure FTP using SFTP or FTPS. See Configuring secure FTP.
Secure all Passwords: Administrators can now use an easy encryption procedure to ensure all passwords remain secure in the ACM configuration files. See Securing passwords.
Category pages as headings in child links list: You can now use Category pages to organize child links. The Category page title gets special formatting applied to it and gets displayed as a heading within the child link list, thus providing a means for separating child links into groups. See Using category pages as headings
QuickLinks page enhancements - new features have been added to the QuickLinks pages to allow the addition of the new Article page type information. See Creating a quick links page.
RSS Feed Reader pages - this new page can contain any number of RSS Feed sets and allows you to add sub-headings to the sections of feeds as well as to format the display of the feeds. Creating RSS feed reader pages.
HTML Consumer pages - this new page type allows you to display HTML from an external HTML file or web site, within the content area of your ACM HTML Consumer page. Creating HTML Consumer pages.
Gallery pages - you can create an online art gallery of images complete with an introductory page, a search feature, and any number of individual images. See Creating gallery pages.
Tab Display Pagelets - you can use the TabDisplay pagelet to group a number of pagelets together and display them using their titles as Tab headers. You can also set an interval at which display of the pagelets is rotated. Users can click on a tab (pagelet) to view the information immediately or wait for the ACM to cycle through each tab. See Creating tab display pagelets.
Turn off Form Tag: You can now turn off the master ACM-controlled <Form> </Form> tag for pages where you need to use multiple forms within a single page. See Configuring page design features.
New in Active Content Manager 8.1
The following items have been updated in the Active CM online help system:
KBArticle and KBArticle Search pages (knowledgebase pages): There are two new page types that when used together provide knowledgebase functionality for use with the Active Content Manager. See Knowledge Base pages overview
Blog comments are now available: Active has added the ability to post comments to Blog entries. You can now set the Blog page to allow or disallow anonymous comments, using the CAPTCHA functionality to ensure that only authentic comments get posted to your pages. Comments can also be moderated to control content that gets published on your Blog pages. See Blog pages overview
Export enhancements: The export feature has been enhanced as follows:
Regardless of how a page is exported, all digital assets associated with that page are also automatically exported as well;
When a digital asset is updated, all pages referencing it will display the correct version of the asset immediately after export;
Google Mini Search pages are supported with static sites: The Google Mini Search page has been enhanced to work in a static (exported) site environment. There are no changes to related procedures or the user interface.
Archived pages and deleted digital assets: The system will now remove archived pages and deleted digital assets from remote static sites. Prior to this feature being implemented, if you archived a page or deleted an asset on your dynamic site, the files would remain in the folders on your remote static site.
Course pages: Online help has been added for the enhanced Course and Course Search pages. These pages required licensing from Active Network. If you would like to purchase these pag types, please contact Active for more information. See Course pages overview
Personalization procedures: a new procedure for personalizing a section of your site, has been added. This is in addition to the existing topic for personalizing a single page. See Personalizing sections of your site.
